 Estepona
Estepona is a truly privileged town located on the western Costa del Sol, only a 25 minute drive from Malaga international airport.
Its privileged location on the shores of the Mediterranean is sheltered on its northern reaches by the slopes of the Sierra Bermeja which reaches its maximum height of 1.449 meters on the summit of Los Reales.
Its location between sea and mountain makes it possible to offer and enjoy a great variety of attractions in a very small geographical area and the best weather in Spain. It has a mild microclimate for ten months of the year with a mean annual temperature of 18.7 ºC.
Estepona has a 5 kilometer long sandy beach and boulevard. The buildings which are situated along the beach are not high rise and behind the boulevard you will find an authentic southern Spanish fishing village, which has managed to perserve a peaseful atmosphere, and in places still provides a good example of a traditional Andalusian white village. There are restaurants, sidewalk cafes, bars and shopping streets where you will find food stores and typical local shops.
The beaches of Estepona include Costa Natura, the nudist beach, the small and quiet coves of Playa de Cristo and the expansive beach called La Rada, which is constantly being awarded the European Blue Flag for clean waters.
A natural park with wild animals in almost total freedom has been recently opened: Selwo Marina.
The Estepona marina is one of the highlights of the town and it is divided into two sections, one is a fishing oriented port where the Estepona fleet is harboured and the other is the Puerto Deportivo where pleasure craft and yachts can be found. The marina is as well one of the most lively nightspot in the area. There is a collection of disco-bars for all tastes which normally open their doors around midnight until 4 o'clock in the morning.
Estepona boasts five established golf courses and is therefore a paradise for golf enthusiasts. Estepona Golf course (18 holes – Par 72) deserves a special mention as being situated amidst the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja and follows the natural contours of the land. Golfers will enjoy both mountain and sea views whilst playing this course.
